Two recipients were awarded $1000 scholarships for being good confidants.
Graduating senior of Overton Public School.
Graduating senior of Humphrey Public School.
This year we have presented our 4th annual Good Confidant Scholarships. We added 3 more Class D schools to the table along with an additional recipient. Each scholarship awarded is for $1000 to use towards whatever the recipients desire. The participating schools are Humphrey Public, Osceola Public, Overton Public, Howels/Dodge, Elm Creek, and Riverside. Our goal is to reach as many class D schools in Nebraska as we can in the years going forward. Most scholarships are based on academic scores and athletics, but our scholarship is solely based on good character and integrity. The foundation looks for those who are outstanding role models of moral principles and have a polite demeanor. Those that are inclusive & show compassion.
A Good Confidant is someone who not only listens but who makes you feel heard. They pay full attention when you are sharing your feelings and show that they are listening with eye contact, nodding, affirmative words, and affection. We can all make a difference in someone else's life and our own lives by being a good friend, a good person, asking questions, reaching out, and listening.
We were very touched and in awe by all of the applicants received this year but the committee could only vote on 2 recipients.
Abilyn Schneider & Adysen McCarter are perfect examples of what a Good Confidant is.
Congratulations to these remarkable young ladies! The world is blessed to have you. Thank you for everything you do and we hope your love and light shine everywhere life takes you.
Thank you everyone for all of your support in Suicide Awareness and Prevention. We love you all!
Cooper William Prorok took his life at the young age of 15. He was a kind and loving boy who will never get to tell his story; We had no indications that he was having mental health issues and contemplating suicide. There will be an empty space in our hearts forever. We want to make a difference in his honor.
It only takes a second to ask how somebody's day is going or to give a simple compliment.
The mission of Lean On Foundation is to be the light on your darkest days, the hope when in despair, the voice of a story unfinished;
Suicide awareness, suicide prevention, and mental wellness has become our passion and we will always be your shoulder to Lean On.
